Our Patients

Fourroux Prosthetics prides our self in our commitment to elevating the level of care that is provided to prosthetic patients.  For years amputees have been asked to accept a less than desired outcome, and to adapt their lifestyle around their prosthesis.

Fourroux Prosthetics' approach to prosthetic care is unique.  We don’t just provide a prosthesis, we provide an experience.  One that is rich in quality care, education, the use of innovative prosthetic technology and patient outcomes.  We provide a gateway to an improved quality of life for amputees and their families.

We recognize that each prosthetic patient is unique and has individual aspirations.  We provide a unique and comprehensive approach, a prosthetic solution, that allows each of our patients the ability to reach their particular goals and desires.

Regardless of your level of amputation we are here to help. We invite you to explore some our patient stories.

DEE...

One of Dee’s favorite pastimes is riding horses.  She can’t imagine what it would be like not being able to enjoy one of her favorite hobbies.

“I would be miserable if I didn’t have a good-fitting prosthetic.  It allows me to live my life and do the things I want to do, which is what everybody wants." says Dee.  “I think initially my goal was just to get back riding ‘cause that’s my happy place.”

Dee understands the value in finding a good prosthetist, and a prosthetic facility that listens, works with you to determine together what you need based on how you live your life.  Read full story and view video...

Joseph is an above knee amputee that has a can do attitude.  He values a good fitting prosthetic that is designed to help him do his day to day tasks.

“I guess I'm more active than some people.  Or, I try to be.  I have a small business where we repair the rock damage of small chips to windshields." says Joseph.  “You know, I'm not in an office.  I'm out in the field.  But, I stopped when I got hurt.  And know I've had to learn to walk with a prosthetic. And, it’s just part of me now.  You know, there’s not much I can't do.”

Joseph found Fourroux and together we have built a lifelong relationship.  Read full story and view video...

DAVID...

Like many amputees, David didn’t think that he would ever be one.   He knew little about prosthetics and when he was faced with becoming an amputee initially he thought access to the many things he enjoyed would not be accessible anymore.

“Growing up in a small town, I'd known one person, he was in his fifties or sixties, had a prosthetic and he never talked about it."  says David.  “I would see prosthetic, uh.. commercials and not really pay much attention, 'cause nobody thinks they're gonna be an amputee.  You know, and so once it hit me, I thought, Wow, I'm...life's basically over. I'm not gonna be able to do much of anything."

David came to Fourroux, and his thoughts quickly changed.  Read full story and view video...

ADAM...

Adam is an upper extremity amputee that is not afraid to try different things.  Prosthetics to him are just a mindset.

“I guess I just wanted to try all different kind of things.  Just enjoy getting out, not sitting around.” says Adam.  “Prosthetics are just a mindset.”

Finding a prosthetic facility was important to Adam. He wanted to find a facility that was going to talk with him and learn about the things he wanted to get back to doing.  To work together to find solutions to the everyday challenges that he faced.  Read full story and view video...

"So I almost feel like my job is never done, especially at home, 'cause I'm al-ways picking up things, having to clean up things,
having to sweep things up."  explains Mia.  "'Cause I have a two-year-old and a one-year-old, so I stay very busy at home."

Mia understands the importance of having a well fitted prosthesis, as well as a prosthetic facility who goes above and beyond to make sure that all her needs are met.  Read full story and view video...

TODD...

Like for many amputees, Todd was faced with amputation with very little notice.  Although optimistic, he wasn't sure if he would be able to get back to doing the things he truely enjoyed.

"Running was part of my life." says Todd.  "It was my stress release to go down the country road and listen to the sounds early in the morning, the coyote, and see, you know, the and same five or six cars.  Just kind of enjoy hearing the pound of the pavement.  I wanted the same experience that I had when I had two sound legs." Read full story and view video...

FERN...

"When you go in many orthopedic prosthetic clinics, they have pictures of people with just the pole."  say Fern.  "And you see their activity levels but you never see someone looking perfectly normal with that pretty leg, which is what I always wanted. Ever since I was a teenager."

Fern is a seasoned amputee, and from very early on, she always felt like there was something missing.  She wanted to look and feel "normal".   Deep down, she wanted a prosthetic device that looked exactly like sound leg...with the fit and function.  But she felt like that was too much to ask.  Read full story and view video...

Fern is one of those people that has a great, 'Can Do' attitude.  She isn't going to let anything stop her.  Though she was nervous when she was told she would become an amputee, to her it was all about her moving forward.

"At first I wasn’t going to have an amputation. I had battled with this for I guess it was over a year, trying to get well with
this foot."  says Kay.  "And my doctor kept saying you’re going to have to be amputated. You’re going to have to be amputated.
And I was nervous and I didn’t know what to expect."  Read full story and view video...
